Philips introduces 45B1U6900C SuperWide monitor for multitasking professionals

Massive productivity workhorse.

Philips 45B1U6900C

Philips has announced the 45B1U6900C SuperWide monitor featuring a 32:9 aspect ratio, a four-port USB hub, and a KVM switch for £939.99.

The 45B1U6900C is equipped with a large 44.5in (113cm diagonal) screen powered by a 1500R-curved VA panel that offers a massive 5120×1440 resolution – equivalent to two QHD 16:9 displays. However, this doesn’t mean driving this monitor is difficult since the total pixel count doesn’t surpass UHD’s.

The monitor runs at 75Hz with 4ms (GtG) response time, 450cd/m² brightness, a 3000:1 contrast ratio, and viewing angles of 178/178° – acceptable numbers for a non-gaming product. DisplayHDR 400 certification is also present, but most importantly, we have a multiclient KVM switch that offers control over two machines alongside PIP and PBP modes.

Professionals will surely enjoy the performance and stability provided by a wired network connection, delivered via the USB-C port that also acts as a power source for any laptop (up to 100W). The former goes hand in hand with the USB-C DisplayPort Alt mode for video output and the USB hub for peripherals/addon devices. One cable to rule them all.

All of the above makes the 45B1U6900C a multitasking beast, where someone like a trader or developer would benefit immensely from the massive real estate at their disposal.

I/O comprise two HDMI 2.0, one DisplayPort 1.4, one USB-C (with DP Alt mode, data, and up to 100W power delivery), one 1GbE port, two 5W speakers, an audio out jack, a four-port USB hub, plus the aforementioned KVM switch.

Finally, even at this size and format, the ergonomics are still good, offering only 150mm height, -/+45° swivel, and -5/+15° tilt. In case it’s not enough, there is always the 100x100mm VESA mount.
