Acer has filed a bunch of Radeon RX 9060 XT graphics cards to the EEC (Eurasian Economic Commission) indicating that AMD may be considering two VRAM variants of its upcoming mainstream GPU. The brand expects RX 9060 XT to be paired with either 8GB or 16GB of VRAM, possibly made of 20Gbps GDDR6 memory like the RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT.
The list of filed models includes:
- Predator Bifrost RX 9060 XT OC 16G
- Predator Bifrost RX 9060 XT OC 8G
- AN-RX9060XT-16G-OCC
- AN-RX9060XT-8G-OCC
- PB-RX9060XT-16G-OCC
- PB-RX9060XT-8G-OCC

This is not the first time we see the same GPU packing two memory configurations. The Radeon RX 570, for example, offered 4GB and 8GB variants, allowing users to somewhat futureproof their purchase. I owned an 8GB RX 570, and its extra VRAM came clutch often when running games above 1080p, allowing me to use higher detailed textures to improve game graphics.
Now, will this be the case with the RX 9060 XT? I would say probably yes, seeing how Nvidia’s RTX 5070 drops off a cliff in VRAM-heavy games like Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, even at 1440p resolution. More so since the RX 9060 XT is expected to be just slightly weaker than RTX 4070 – which is still a capable GPU.
While many will opt for the 16GB version to be on the safe side, depending on the price, the 8GB model could be a nice option for anyone planning to upgrade as soon as next-gen chips hit shelves. A nice technique used by some to keep owning the latest hardware without breaking the bank.
VRAM aside, RX 9060 XT is expected to leverage AMD’s Navi 44 GPU based on the RDNA 4 architecture. If so, the memory bus could be halved to 128 bits instead of the 256 bits powering RX 9070 series. As for power consumption, 150W to 200W seems about right.
That said, as usual, these could be simple name placeholders that will never see the light of day. What is sure is that AMD has confirmed the RX 9060 XT release date for Q2 2025, with rumours talking about an April launch.
