Valve more than doubles Steam Deck production

I can finally get one.

Valve has notified via Twitter that it is up to date with Steam Deck’s Q2 pre-order emails and will double the volume of consoles shipped each week.

The supply of Steam Decks has been very low lately, leaving a lot of potential customers waiting for a chance to snag one. Thankfully, there seems to be light at the end of the tunnel, as Valve has announced its production facilities are now able to deliver more than twice the number of consoles each week.

This is good news for those who plan to get one; delays should be shortened considerably. The first batches are obviously going to consumers who have already reserved theirs through Steam using a $5 deposit, and have been waiting for months. However, this still doesn’t give us a clear idea about the actual delivery dates.

If you pre-ordered one, don’t forget to check email in case your turn has come, because there are only 72 hours to confirm reservation before losing the coveted spot. If missed, you will have to start all over again. Boo hoo.

With that said, we still don’t have any news about the Docking Station that was delayed due to component shortages and the closing of fabrication lines during the more severe period of the pandemic earlier this year. In the meantime, Valve said the team continues to perfect support for all USB-C multiport adapters and external displays for Steam Deck.

A shortened delivery window has our interest piqued. Time to get on that reservation train.
