The world’s largest electronic expo, CES 2023 is expected to break the Internet in January. Until then, rumours and unveilings are at large with the latest being yet another collaboration between Asus and Noctua for Nvidia RTX 40 Series Noctua Edition graphics cards, expected to launch at the event.
This is according to nApoleon, head editor at popular Chinese website Chiphell, so naturally the following information should be taken with a grain of salt. First off, no specific graphics cards were mentioned, but due to the success of the previous quad-slot RTX 30 Series variants, we can expect both RTX 4080 and RTX 4090 versions… and perhaps an RTX 4070 Ti model housing the unlaunched RTX 4080 12GB AD104 GPU.
Moving swiftly on, the cooler is said to be of an entirely new design for improved thermal and acoustic capabilities. It features the same premium look, feel and sleeker design. Whether that means Noctua will forego the quad-slot profile it introduced in the RTX 3070 and RTX 3080 Noctua Editions is anyone’s guess, but we believe divergence is highly unlikely since most RTX 40 Series AIB cards feature a quad-slot cooler.
Noctua’s first take was the exception rather than the rule and was both innovative and refreshingly unique in that it featured a pair of full-sized Noctua NF-A12x25 PWM fans in a dual-fan design that produced near-silent operation. Not forgetting to mention the almighty brown and beige colourway which when faced directly toward the user cleverly resembled the company’s iconic owl logo.
Last but not least, the card is also rumoured to utilise a custom PCB design which will be outfitted with 16-pin 12VHPWR connectors. Pricing and availability has yet to be announced, and we’ll all have to look toward CES 2023 for the final unveiling. We await with bated breath.
