Minisforum has announced its smallest PC yet, squeezing an AMD Ryzen 7 6800U plus 32GB of memory into a truly pocket-sized box.
Part of its Mercury product series, the EM680 is a ridiculously small Mini-PC packing unexpected performance inside its 80mm (L) × 80mm (W) × 43mm (H) chassis. Weighing in at 238g, performance is supplied by the 8C16T Ryzen 7 6800U CPU, 16GB or 32GB of dual-channel LPDDR5-6400 memory, and 512GB or 1TB of PCIe 4.0 M.2 2230 SSD storage, which is upgradable to 2TB.
For reference, this is less than one quarter the space taken by the already small TH60 and TH80 PCs. Putting it into further context, the chassis is not much larger than a standard deck of cards.
Aside from its transportable nature, this Ultra-Mini-PC would also make for a perfect TV-attached media or light gaming PC thanks to its Radeon 680M integrated GPU. We are talking 30FPS at 1080p in God of War (low) and Days Gone (medium), 50FPS in Forza Horizon 5 (high), and 80FPS in GTA V (high).
Although limited by its size, the EM680 manages to cram three USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, two USB 4 Type-C (with DP Alt Mode), one HDMI 2.1, one 3.5 audio jack, and a TF card slot around its sides. There’s also Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 for wireless connectivity.
Cooling-wise, the Ryzen APU can reach its maximum configurable TDP of 28W thanks to an active cooling system featuring liquid metal.
Backed by two years of warranty, and bundled with a 65W GaN Type-C power adapter, plus Windows 11 Pro operating system, the EM680 is priced at $399 (16GB RAM and 512GB SSD), $449 (32GB RAM and 512GB SSD), or $489 (32GB RAM and 1TB SSD).
