CDPR announces Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.0 will launch September 21 ahead of Phantom Liberty expansion

Wake up, Samurai, we've got an updated Night City to burn!

Cyberpunk 2077’s Update 2.0 is arriving next week on September 21, bringing with it new skill trees and perks, a revamped police system, in-depth vehicular combat and much more. Thereafter, the massive Phantom Liberty DLC expansion launches on September 26, giving us chooms the opportunity to thoroughly test out the newly-revamped systems.

The announcement was dropped via a flashy reveal trailer accompanying by a blogpost detailing a new Cyberpunk 2077 build planner to help players plan new ways to build their characters, thanks to the advanced RPG elements and brand-new abilities that open up unique approaches to combat, hacking, and more.

The build planner includes your standard skill trees from the base game, as well as the new relic tree that was teased in the “New Ways To Play” reveal trailer we covered last month. Even more so, CDPR’s top developers also shared their favourite builds with us, including a ‘Bullet-Time Ninja, Hack-&-Slash Netrunner, and Savage Slugger Solo,’ each with their own unique attributes, skill sets and detailed build overview, which you can view in the blogpost to get you started.

That’s not all. CDPR says after downloading Update 2.0, players will have the opportunity to redistribute all of their attribute points in order to experiment and adapt to the new system, and Perk points can also be redistributed outside of combat. Or you could be like me and start a fresh character from scratch. I’m feeling female V vibes for my next playthrough.

Update 2.0 goes live September 21 on PS5, Xbox Series S/X and PC via Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store for absolutely free. Now that’s a good price. Though, you’re going to have fork out £24.99 for the Phantom Liberty expansion that goes live September 26.
