Latest Nvidia GeForce hotfix targets Discord streaming issues

Do you play with V-Sync on?

Nvidia has published a hotfix based on its latest GeForce Game Ready Driver 546.29, targeting a couple of bugs. It’s particularly handy if you stream games to your friends on Discord, or play with V-Sync on.

Dubbed version 546.31, this patch irons out two annoying issues. The first concerns the voice chat app Discord, which is used for private streaming as well as communication. Previously, there was a bug causing said streams to appear muted or washed out as indicated in the 546.17 driver logs. Now, that problem should no longer appear, so happy streaming.

The second is regarding V-Sync, thus consequently touches a wider audience. This bug caused intermittent stutters when V-Sync is enabled. If you ever had one of those shader compilation slowdowns, you know how infuriating stuttering can be. This one’s gone too.

Note that this update includes all the fixes and game support brought by Game Ready Driver 546.29. In other words, you can install this one and still have optimisations for Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III Season 1, Throne and Liberty, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, and Fortnite Chapter 5, alongside an updated application profile for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

You should also get ray tracing and DLSS 3 in Call of Duty: Warzone when they become available on December 6. Same for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora when it launches on December 7. Nvidia claims DLSS 3 improves frame rates by about 85%, from 69fps to 128fps in Modern Warfare III. That said, Netflix video issues when using the Edge browser still aren’t fixed.
