Forza Horizon 5 Winter Wonderland update celebrates the holidays

Santa Claus is coming to town.

Forza Horizon 5’s Winter Wonderland is now live. The massive update treats players to a bunch of new cars, 24 unique Eventlab items, the return of Secret Santa, and much more. The event will be available from now until January 2, 2024. Let’s break it down.

According to the patch notes, there are free and paid vehicles to unwrap over the next four weeks. You can unlock up to four cars via the festival playlist, plus four returning classics in Autoshow, and a Fast X car pack. Secret Santa also returns with two exclusive cars. You can unlock these gems by sending gifts to other players. Tis the season of goodwill, after all.

These are all the freebies you can unlock:

Festival Playlist Rewards

  • 2000 Lotus 340R
  • 2009 Lotus-2-Eleven
  • 2019 Morgan Aero GT
  • 2022 Subaru BRZ

  • 2023 Aston Martin Valkyrie

Forza aficionados may notice that the pair of topless Lotus hypercars and Morgan Aero GT return from previous Horizon games. This makes the 2022 Subaru BRZ the only new debut in the series. It’s a revamped version of the 2020 Toyota GT86.

Playgrounds Games says it has improved the vehicles handling and added superior grip for those tight Mexican street corners. Engine capacity has also increased from 2.0 to 2.4-liters which now produces 228 bhp. Nice.

Purchasable vehicles and Fast X Pack

Moving on, there are five Autoshow vehicles purchasable with in-game currency. These include four ultra-sleek classics spanning from 1953 through 1970. Classic car enthusiasts beware, because the following may cause a massive dent to your Forza wallet.

The Fast X DLC Pack headed by the infamous 1970 Dodge Charger.

Autoshow classics

  • 1953 Jaguar C-Type
  • 1958 Aston Martin DBR1
  • 1966 Porsche 906 Carrera 6
  • 1970 Ferrari 512 S

The most expensive of the bunch also happens to be the oldest vehicle. The Jaguar C-Type costs an eye-watering 22,500,000cr. Meanwhile, the Porsche 906 Carrera 6 is the cheapest and easiest vehicle to get a hold of, costing a mere 2,000,000cr. I told you it was going to be expensive!

Finally, if you’re itching to spend real money, then there’s an exclusive five car DLC pack from the most recent Fast and the Furious film, Fast X. These consist mainly of American-made muscle cars, so expect roaring V8’s and aggressive styling. You can purchase the DLC for $9.99 in the Microsoft Store. My personal favourite would have to be the return of Dominic Toretto’s classic 1970 Dodge Charger. Isn’t she lovely?

Fast X Car Pack DLC

  • 1966 Chevrolet Impala Super Sport “Fast X”
  • 1970 Dodge Charger “Fast X”
  • 1973 Datsun 240Z “Fast X”
  • 2022 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody “Fast X”
  • 2022 Fast X Flip Car 2.0

That’s not all, mind you. Eventlab creators receive six new prop sets totalling 24 unique items to decorate and create custom event tracks. The Stadium receives a Winter makeover, and will flourish with candy canes and Christmas trees all over the snowy course. Plus, the illusive snowman collectible will be available once again this year to add to your collection and can be found in the open world from December 14.

Additional event lab props for custom events.

Last but least, there’s a host of bug fixes and and changes implemented in this new update as well. Feel free to head on over to Forza.net for the rather comprehensive release notes. With that being said, happy hunting!
