We can give you five reasons Xbox Series S is worth it, but you only need one for the more powerful Xbox Series X: it’s currently the cheapest it’s ever been. Sporting a hefty discount, Microsoft’s most-powerful console makes for a great gift right before the holiday period. Or, you know, a little something for yourself.
Over on Amazon UK, Xbox Series X is 27% cheaper, costing just £349.99. This saves you £130 you can put towards games or an expansion card. It’s also the lowest price after a second second markdown over the past week. This is even cheaper than Black Friday, and there’s no telling when we’ll see a deal like this again.
There’s a similar saving across the Atlantic on Amazon US, as 20% off brings the price down to $399. This is admittedly the second-best price we’ve seen, following in the footsteps of Black Friday.
Alongside PS5, Xbox Series X is the first time consoles have reached as high as 4K gaming. It uses checkerboard rendering techniques to achieve high resolutions, which is somewhat similar to using upscalers like Nvidia DLSS on PC. You can also leverage up to 120fps in some games, although this is usually at a lower resolution.
With an NVMe SSD, RDNA 2 graphics, Zen 2 processing power, and 16GB of GDDR6, you can see how it’s the closest consoles have been to gaming PCs. Loading times are zippier than ever, and it doesn’t miss a beat.
Xbox Series S
“Xbox Series S is designed for disc-free gaming at 1440p (with the ability to upscale to 4K), with HDR and up to 120fps.”

If you fancy something a little more budget-friendly this time of year, then look no further than 20% off Xbox Series S. This brings it down to a more palatable £199.99 in the UK, just £10 more than its best price, and $239 in the US where we’ve never seen it lower. Naturally, this comes with some sacrifices, such as no disc slot, slimmer 512GB storage, and 1440p resolution targets. That said, it still aims for 120fps and can play all the same games. It even packs three months of Game Pass Ultimate for free.
Both consoles are best paired with an Xbox Game Pass subscription, which grants you access to hundreds of games. Depending on the tier you choose, you can play them across your console, PC, or through the cloud. It’s an additional cost, sure, but you won’t get value like it elsewhere.
We recommend subscribing to Amazon Prime to get free delivery that’s usually much faster. In fact, there are loads of benefits included in an Amazon Prime membership. Make sure to check the soonest delivery you can get before anything, though. The Xbox Series S might not make it to you before Christmas if you’re in the US.
