Samsung has announced three OLED gaming monitors ahead of CES 2024, two of which rocking Smart TV features. They’re welcome additions to an already nice product lineup.
Samsung will welcome three new displays to its Odyssey series at CES. There’s Odyssey OLED G6 (G60SD), Samsung’s first flat 27in OLED monitor rocking a 2560×1440 QHD resolution and 360Hz refresh rate. Next, Odyssey OLED G8 (G80SD) is the brand’s first flat 32in OLED with a 3840×2160 UHD resolution and 240Hz refresh rate. Lastly, the large OLED G9 (G95SD) might seem a bit more familiar with its 49in curved ultra-wide panel, but the (32:9) DQHD 5120×1440 resolution has a higher 240Hz refresh rate. These are some nice complements to its QD-OLED roster and all have 0.03ms GTG response time.
Samsung says that all three feature OLED Glare-Free technology which minimises light reflections. This should allow you to enjoy consistent brightness and colour in many lighting conditions. They also support VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro delivering vivid colours and a tear-free experience.
To further enhance the viewing experience, Samsung has included its Core Lighting+. This is a set of LEDs emitting ambient light from the monitor’s rear to extend content outside of the screen.
In addition to Smart TV features such as on demand shows, you’ll also find many gaming-related apps like Twitch. However, if you prefer a more active approach, then Samsung’s Gaming Hub has you covered with Xbox’s Game Pass Cloud Streaming and Nvidia’s GeForce Now. You can play plenty of games on both, and all without needing a PC. Just note that you will need a game controller since Samsung didn’t mention keyboard and mouse support.
Lastly, all models carry two HDMI 2.1 ports alongside one DisplayPort 1.4 and a USB hub. Depending on the model, you get height, tilt, pivot, and swivel adjustments, plus they all seem to support VESA mounting.
