It’s not often you upgrade your gaming monitor, so you need your choice to count. Instead of placing emphasis on refresh rate or resolution, however, 2024 is all about panel tech. OLED (organic light-emitting diode) trumps every other screen type out there right now, and it’s currently cheaper than ever to get one.
The 27in LG Ultragear 27GR95QE OLED has fallen to its best price on Amazon US. Lopping a full 25% off, the vivid display costs just $746.99, making it the cheapest it’s ever been. UK folks can get in on the action too, albeit with a slightly slimmer 17% discount at £831.31. We’ve seen it lower than this before, but it’s still pretty good.
Based on LG’s own OLED technology, the brand packs the display to the brim with features designed to make games look the best they possibly can. There’s no compromise between the 2560×1440 resolution and 240Hz refresh rate, powered by either DisplayPort or HDMI 2.1. It’s officially G-Sync compatible to prevent screen tearing, boasts a rapid 0.03ms GtG response time, and packs HDR10 support. The only thing missing is that it’s a flat screen rather than curved.
There are a few things to know before getting an OLED, though. This panel, in particular, has a slightly harsher auto-brightness limiter (ABL), meaning you’ll notice your display become lighter or darker depending on your background. All OLED monitors have this to varying degrees and you only notice it when browsing the web, not in-game or watching a movie. As someone that uses the Corsair Xeneon 27QHD240 with the very same screen, it’s a worthy sacrifice to save on the price.

If you’d rather something a little more consistent, QD-OLED might be more your speed. MSI MEG 342C QD-OLED is 18% cheaper at $899.99 in the US and 15% off at £1,099.99 in the UK. While this is more expensive than the LG, it’s easily the best OLED monitor I’ve personally used. You can read my review here.
The ultrawide panel curves at 1,800R with a 3440×1440 resolution and 175Hz refresh rate. Infused with a Quantum Dot layer, colours are richer than just about any other display. Even the on-screen navigation is a joy compared to most others I’ve used.
It features an RGB light bar at the bottom that goes a step beyond a gimmick. It doesn’t add a great deal to your gaming experience when mirroring on-screen colours, but it’s undeniably useful as a timer for your OLED care. You’re advised to shut off your display once every four hours to conduct a pixel check to prevent burn-in. The process usually takes more than five minutes and, as you can imagine, is pretty intrusive when you’re busy. The RGB bar very clearly lets you know when it’s complete so you can get back to gaming.
Both of these deals are on Amazon, which means you can subscribe to Prime for free delivery. It’s not necessary, but it does mean you’ll get to plug in your new monitor sooner rather than later. Plus, there are plenty of benefits in the membership that are worth the money.
