Don’t let the sleek black chassis fool you, it’s the same Xbox Series S underneath, albeit with a bigger 1TB SSD. Effectively doubling your storage means you can fit more games and spend less time reinstalling. To quantify just how big 1TB is, you can fit Red Dead Redemption 2, Destiny 2, Microsoft Flight Simulator, Forza Motorsport, and Baldur’s Gate 3, while still having enough room for the latest releases. If this still isn’t enough for you, then there’s always room for the optional expansion card.
Unlike it’s bigger brother, Series S is completely digital with no disc drive and caps out at 1440p resolution. While this means you won’t be able to trade in your games, it makes the best use of its four Teraflops to hit that coveted 120Hz refresh rate. Things are only getting better, too, as the push into FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 (FSR 3) gives supported games an extra frame rate boost. It’s early days and not too many have adopted the feature, but the tech has come a long way from where it once was.

Currently, Series S is the cheapest way to get your hands on the subscription, which gives unprecedented access to a myriad of games from Starfield to Senua’s Saga: Helldblade II. It’ll even reportedly get Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 on the day of release.
