Headset microphones are handy in a pinch, but upgrading to a standalone receiver is one of the quickest ways to elevate your setup beyond the mundane. One of the biggest misconceptions is that you need to go all-out, but you don’t need to spend hundreds on Shure SM7B or Logitech Blue Sona to sound like your favourite streamers.

Rode NT-USB is currently 51% cheaper on Amazon UK, plummeting to its lowest price yet at £83. It’s the same in France, where half-price brings it down to just €95.00. Sadly, I haven’t seen these discounts reach other shores, but you can check your region by clicking the button below.

The beauty of USB solutions is that they’re plug-and-play. There’s no need to buy a separate preamp or fiddle with unfamiliar cables. The device fits straight into your PC and is ready to go.

Everything you need is included in the initial cost, including a microphone stand. Granted, you might want to stick it on a boom arm like Rode PSA1 to keep it away from the clacks of your keyboard, but Nvidia Broadcast can help omit those unwanted sounds anyway, if you have access to it.

There’s even a high-quality pop filter in the box, which reduces plosives so you sound silky smooth. For reference, plosives are those harsher-sounding letters like Bs, Fs, and mainly Ps that send a gush of air directly at the mic.

For the more technical-minded, NT-USB features a 20Hz-20kHz frequency range and 16-bit depth, which is exceedingly good at its newfound price range. And there’s a 3.5mm high-power headphone jack, so you get zero latency when listening using the microphone as your output as well as input.

This is a limited deal, so don’t spend too long pondering the upgrade. If you’re not happy, you can always send them back, as the retailer has a 30-day return policy, no questions asked. It’s the main benefit of shopping with Amazon.

In the meantime, I’ll keep hunting around for top tech deals. All you need to do is follow us on socials like X or Facebook to stay in the loop. We even have a free weekly newsletter where we’ll send some directly to you.
