AOC has announced four new gaming monitors targeting budget buyers. Part of the Agon brand, these displays should carry all the gaming features you’ll need, spearheaded by high refresh rates and low pixel responses.
Joining the G4 series, we have the C27G4H, CQ27G4H, C27G4ZH, and CQ27G4ZH. All are curved 27in monitors powered by VA panels. The main difference between them is resolution and refresh rate. Furthermore, all G Series models are covered by a three-year replacement warranty that includes a zero dead pixel guarantee.
C27G4H comes equipped with a 180Hz FHD panel rated for 3000:1 contrast and 0.5ms (MPRT) response time. CQ27G4H pushes resolution to QHD (1440p) while keeping the same refresh. C27G4ZH takes the FHD resolution up to 280Hz. And lastly, CQ27G4ZH combines the best of both worlds, i.e. 280Hz at QHD resolution.
Now, who are these monitors for? If you are looking for something to play upcoming story-driven titles such as Final Fantasy 16 and God of War Ragnarök, then the CQ27G4H with its 180Hz QHD panel is plenty. The VA panel powering this model should elevate your gaming experience, especially in dark scenes thanks to its deep blacks compared to IPS-type screens.
However, if you are more of a competitive person, then the C27G4ZH is what you need, thanks to its 280Hz refresh and less demanding FHD resolution. It’s far easier to push the full frame rate ceiling at HD than with CQ27G4ZH, although the latter’s QHD is perhaps better for variety gamers, like myself.
While AOC announces the C27G4H at $169.99, you can currently grab it from Amazon for just $149.99. An excellent deal, just $10 shy of the cheapest competitor.
It’s the opposite for CQ27G4H, as the Amazon tag asks for $259.99 instead of the official $209.99. Perhaps not worth the cost, seeing how equivalent displays are available for much less, but the premium of AOC offers some level of comfort compared to the off-brands available.
The last available model is C27G4ZH, available for AOC’s recommended price tag of $189.99. It’s the cheapest 280Hz monitor I’ve seen by far, and a great choice for budget e-sport players. As for CQ27G4ZH, it’s expected to launch in November at $399.99.
