Deal of the day: AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX prices hit a new low

The best RDNA 3 has to offer on offer.

ASRock Radeon RX 7900 XTX Phantom Gaming graphics card with "extra-low XTX" written above it.

Things couldn’t be more different between Nvidia and AMD lately. GeForce RTX 4090 is on the chopping block as Team Green considers discontinuing its flagship, while RTX 4080 remains as pricey as ever. Meanwhile, the folks over on the Red squad see this as an opportunity.

Graphics cards rarely get good deals these days, least of all top-tier models with enough muscle to handle anything you chuck at them. That’s why it’s such a shock that Radeon RX 7900 XTX currently sports the biggest discount we’ve seen yet.

ASRock leads the charge on Amazon UK with a lovely 14% off, bringing the price of its gorgeous RX 7900 XTX Phantom Gaming down to £749.99. PowerColor takes over on Amazon US by chopping a further $40 off its Hellhound for a clean $819.99 price tag. Both are the cheapest each graphics card has ever been.

All Radeon RX 7900 XTX models play in the same circle, with RDNA 3 architecture under the hood. This pairs with 24GB of GDDR6 memory across a 384-bit bus at 20Gbps.

The only thing separating ASRock from PowerColor is the frequency. Hellhound manages up to 2,525MHz with an overclock, while Phantom Gaming pushes a little further to 2,615MHz. It’s a small distinction, but one that could earn you a couple more frames in games.

Keep in mind that these aren’t small cards. Alongside a lengthy triple-fan approach to keep the hardware cool, these are thicc boys that take up 2.5 slots. It might vary depending on the model, but they usually ship with anti-sag brackets to keep it perky and save strain on your motherboard’s PCIe slot.

We gave the GPU 4/5 stars in our AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX review, praising its move away from monolithic dies to a new cost-effective chiplet design. This places it on a similar level to RTX 4080 rather than the unchallenged RTX 4090, but there’s a buttload of value given AMD’s price sits around £200 cheaper than the latter. Backed with FSR (FidelityFX Super Resolution) and fantastic rasterised performance, it’s a clear winner.

Even with such a great deal, this is no small chunk of change. Fortunately, you can wipe your brow and sigh in relief as Amazon provides a safety net. You have up to 30 days to return unwanted purchases if you’re not happy, no questions asked, alongside your standard warranty.
