Deal of the day: Samsung 990 Pro 4TB SSD prices take a tumble

SSD prices are heading back in the right direction, and this £60 Amazon coupon is a welcome cherry on top.

If you missed out on last year’s remarkable SSD bargains, fear not, as deals are slowly but surely beginning to reappear in the build-up to Black Friday. We’re always on the lookout, especially when there’s a bonus coupon code to put a meaningful amount back into your pocket. Just take this Samsung 990 Pro SSD as an example.

The 4TB heatsink model already sports 8% off, bringing it to under £300 in the UK, but it’s the availability of a £60 voucher that’s really caught our eye. Tick the box and drive cost plummets to just £250.78. We haven’t seen it this low since Black Friday 2023!

Deals are available in other regions, too, with the same capacity chopping 35% off in the US, bringing the price down to $309.99. Since availability is spotty in Europe, your best bet is to forgo the heatsink and grab a 6% reduction at €339. You can check local pricing by clicking the button below.

Straight-line speed is solid, IOPS spectacular, and overall benchmark figures, particularly for professional applications, all point to a top-notch SSD from a well-known manufacturer. Read our 2TB review.

While 4TB offers the best savings of the lot, there are a few discounts on other capacities. The 2TB model is up to 34% cheaper, falling as low as £149.99 / $175 / €156; meanwhile, 1TB drops to $109.99 / £94 / €91. Keep an eye out for those coupons, as the UK gives an extra £5 off in some cases.

Samsung’s 7,450MB/s sequential read and 6,900MB/s sequential write speeds top the charts for this spec, and we found the 2TB model to be a stellar performer in more ways than one.

I’d normally recommend avoiding the premium that comes with the heatsink model showcased here, but the voucher actually makes it cheaper than the naked variant in the UK. You can always remove the shield if your motherboard has its own solutions, but having the option is better than not. Samsung also primes and readies the device to slot right into a PS5 console, with or without a heat spreader.

Although I’ve already mentioned that SSD prices are predicted to fall a little from their eye-watering inflation throughout 2024, I wouldn’t expect them to reach much lower than this. My advice is to seize the deal while it’s in front of you, lest you miss out and wait another year.
