With the recent release of PS5 Pro, it was only a matter of time before Sony cut the price of its PlayStation 5 Slim, and there’s no better point in the year than the season of sales. Getting ahead of the Black Friday mania, you can get your hands on this generation’s favourite console for less than ever before.

Sporting up to 17% off on Amazon, Sony’s PlayStation 5 currently costs just £400 in the UK and $425 in the US for the disc model, marking the lowest prices it’s ever been in these regions. Cut the optical drive, and it’s €375 in France, another all-time low. You can always grab the disc drive separately later down the line.

There are other savings dotted around, and you can find out your local deal by clicking the button below.

PlayStation 5

Experience lightning-fast loading with an ultra-high speed SSD, deeper immersion with support for haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and 3D Audio with new and improved PlayStation games.

While the original PS5 in the top image is a fairly imposing machine, the Slim lives up to its name at just 3.2kg and 358mm × 96mm × 216mm – and that’s with the disc drive attached. Slotting under your TV has never been so seamless.

Alongside its plug-and-play nature, physical media is the ace in the hole for consoles like PS5, letting you get games cheaper. When you’re done, simply trade them into the sprawling second-hand market and put the funds towards your next purchase.

There are plenty of games already running Black Friday discounts, from Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 to the brand-new Metaphor: ReFantazio, which is up for The Game Awards’ Game of the Year. My personal pick is Astro Bot, which harkens back to the golden age of platformers with the cutest mascot in decades.

Since Amazon lists these all as limited-time deals, I can’t imagine you have long to get your hands on a cheaper PS5 or any of the accompanying games. Don’t stress about taking the leap, though. Fortunately, the retailer has extended its usual return period, letting you get a refund until January 31, 2025 if you’re unhappy with your purchase.
