Philips focuses on energy efficiency with its new pro monitors

Fills all your office needs.

Philips has announced a new professional monitor lineup with an emphasis on efficiency and ergonomics. The series has all you may need in an office environment without breaking the bank.

The new business monitor lineup from Philips includes three models, 27B2G5500, 24B2G5200, and 27B2G5200. The first two come equipped with a 27in IPS panel, whereas the latter opts for a slightly smaller 24in. Aside from the size, the main difference between these is resolution, topping at 2560×1440 on the 27B2G5500 and 1920×1080 on the others.

All boast low energy consumption hovering between 6W and 8.3W in ECO mode, depending on the model. During typical use in default mode, these figures slightly increase, oscillating between 6.93W and 11.11W. These are some fantastic operating costs, especially for an office setup where hundreds if not thousands of machines run at the same time. As an added bonus alongside lowering electricity bills, it’s a blessing for heat generation, simultaneously reducing the need for air conditioning.

Naturally, these won’t break any speed records, as they all max out at 100Hz refresh rate and 4ms GtG (grey-to-grey) response time. Still, that’s a welcome upgrade for office monitors, most of which remain stuck in the 60Hz era.

Likewise, contrast and brightness are identical between all three displays at 1500:1 and 300nits, respectively. Just what you need to clearly see those Word documents. Colour gamut is similarly worthy, with sRGB covering enough for light photo editing.

As per usual for Philips, connectivity is another strong aspect of this lineup. It doesn’t feature dozens of inputs, but it has a wide variety, and most importantly, legacy connectors that are increasingly rare nowadays. You will find one VGA, one HDMI 1.4, one DisplayPort 1.2, two audio jacks, and a four-port USB hub. The latter is conveniently located on the side, making connecting peripherals hassle-free. Note, however, that the VGA port is only available on the 1080p models, probably due to bandwidth requirements.

Lastly, on the ergonomic side, it’s a well-rounded build with a stand you can adjust by up to 150mm in height, tilt by -5° to +30°, swivel by 180°, and pivot by 90°. Not to forget the 100mm VESA mount for those multi monitor setups.

Philips 27B2G5500, 24B2G5200, and 27B2G5200 will be available at £239.99, £169.99, and £189.99, respectively.
