Apple’s latest MacBook Pro is not even two months old but the fruity company is in the gift-giving spirit having donned the iconic Santa hat. Taking 15% off, you can currently get one of the best laptops in 2024 for its lowest price yet, saving you hundreds.
While stocks last, you can grab a 14.2in MacBook for just $1,699 in the US, £1,829 in the UK, and €2,299 in parts of Europe. A $300 saving is nothing to scoff at, especially given it’s now the cheapest this model has ever been. You can check your region’s deals by clicking the button below.
Apple MacBook Pro with M4 Pro (14.2in)
You’ll do well not to succumb to the upsell, but this exact model, with 14-core M4 Pro CPU, 24GB memory and 512GB SSD storage ticks a whole lot of boxes.
I often make a point of guiding people towards previous models where there are greater savings, but this year’s iteration warrants a second glance with its newfound low. Apple’s 2024 MacBook Pro packs a potent M4 Pro at its heart with a colossal 14 cores (ten performance and four efficiency).
Generally, you can expect 150% more performance than the standard M4 and twice the speed of its predecessor, M3 Pro. We benchmark the 16.2in version of this laptop at 1,755 multi-core and 177 single-core in Cinebench 2024, the latter of which races past AMD Ryzen 9 9950X’s 139 single-core results.
Apple silicon packs a great deal of magic underneath, with 20 GPU cores at 273GB/s of bandwidth making it something of a workhorse. It’s built to edit 8K video, which will soon be the next-generation standard for resolution – you can consider this my CES 2025 prediction.
Although gaming is often an afterthought on Apple machines, these graphics also prime the device for Asahi Linux, so you can play Windows-compatible titles directly on your system. Admittedly, you might want more storage than the 512GB SSD offers here, considering the process creates a dual-boot scenario, but it’ll cost you $500 more or settle for a regular M4 for the 1TB – neither of which are preferable.
Adorned with a 14.2in Liquid Retina display, you can expect a superbly high pixel density that makes on-screen movement silky smooth. Sticking with LCD over its Super Retina OLED alternative is fantastic for all-day battery life and 1,600 nits peak brightness cutting through the glare of sunlight. The only thing missing is a bigger screen, but the 16.2in variant will set you back $2,249 for the luxury.
No matter what you throw at the system, it’ll run like a dream as the M4 Pro model makes dual fans standard. Admittedly, this means it can get a bit louder when pushing the processor to its limits, but it should run quieter than the M4 version while chugging along with general workloads.
Since the big day is just around the corner, you won’t receive this in time for Christmas, but delivery is still prompt enough to get it before the weekend. Amazon also tacks on a return window that lasts until January 15, 2025, giving you ample time to send it back for a full refund if you’re not happy.
