Replacing your Steam Deck SSD with larger and faster storage is a simple and surprisingly affordable task. Given how popular Valve’s device has become, more manufacturers are bringing compatible M.2 drives to the space including Corsair. Now, you can pick up the company’s MP600 Mini well below its MSRP making for a cheap and cheerful upgrade to your pocket rocket.

MP600 Mini

“MP600 Mini provides great storage performance in a tiny package that’s ideal for the Steam Deck, achieving rapid read and write speeds.” – Corsair

Over on Amazon US, you’ll find MP600 Mini available in 1TB and 2TB flavours. The former comes with a 32% ($35) discount while the latter, making it $74.99. Meanwhile, the latter and larger option is down 39% ($90) and can be yours for $139.99. Regardless of which size you prefer to pick up, you can purchase safe in the knowledge that there’s never been a better time to buy either capacity.

MP600 Mini pushes its PCIe Gen4 interface hard with sequential read speeds of up to 7,000MB/s and writes of 6,200MB/s across its 1TB and 2TB models. The drive is also more than capable of sustaining that level of performance for extended periods thanks to its TLC (Triple-level Cell) memory.

The only difference between 1TB and 2TB models, bar price and capacity, is their endurance rating. The larger of the two can endure 1200TBW (Terabytes Written) whereas the smaller of the two clocks in at a respectable 600TBW. Both of these ratings are well in excess of any normal use but Corsair bundles a five-year warranty with each drive for added piece of mind.

For those seeking advise on buying a new Steam Deck, I’d recommend picking up the 512GB OLED model for $549 and pairing it with either the 1TB of 2TB MP600 Mini. Whichever SSD you choose, you’ll either end up saving cash relative to the 1TB OLED direct from Valve, or have double the storage for an additional $40. If you’re nervous about swapping out the drive, I recommend checking out the official iFixIt guide (linked above) as it makes the process a lot more palatable.
