When it comes to speed, few SSDs can match the pace of Crucial T700. This PCIe Gen 5 drive was once the fastest in the world and while it may not hold that title now it’s still no slouch. It also used to be one of the most expensive storage options but its price continues to tumble and has reached a new all-time low, making it more affordable than ever.

On Amazon US, you’ll find Crucial T700 1TB rocking a 16% ($23) discount making it an agreeable $119.99. A heatsink comes part and parcel with the SSD too, boosting its value by saving the need to rely on your motherboard for cooling. While not discounted in the UK, the drive is available at a similar price, namely £122.99.
Out of the box, Crucial T700 offers sequential read speeds of up to 11,700MB/s (11.7GB/s) and writes of 9,500MB/s (9.5GB/s). These speeds not only make for lightning-fast loading times in games but allow the SSD to rapidly parse and transfer large files, such as 4K video.
Crucial offers a five-year warranty with all T700 SSDs, 1TB included. The drive itself also boasts an endurance rating of 600TBW. It’s highly unlikely that you’ll wear out the drive or that it’ll fail, but they’re welcome pieces of mind all the same.
You will need a PCIe Gen 5 expansion slot on your motherboard to make the most out of Crucial T700. However, if your system tops out at Gen 4 you can still expect the maximum throughput possible via that interface from the drive. As a quick guide, if you have a B650E or B850 chipset or something more advanced then you’re ready to experience this SSD at its fastest.
