Acer has announced the XZ342CU S3 ultrawide, a curved high-refresh-rate display offering UWQHD resolution in a comfortable 34in format.
The XZ342CU S3 is an ultrawide monitor based on a 10-bit (8-bit + FRC) VA panel, boasting a 1500R curve alongside a 3440×1440 resolution, all inside an adequately sized 34in format. While it may be appealing for gaming and content consumption thanks to the 21:9 aspect ratio and 180Hz refresh rate, this monitor accomplishes basic colour work as it covers 90 per cent of the DCI-P3 gamut.
Pushing things further on the gaming and media side, XZ342CU S3 boasts a 1ms (VRB), 4000:1 contrast, and a brightness of 400 nits – enough to unlock the VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification. Meanwhile, AMD FreeSync Premium technology is ready to tackle any tearing while gaming.
Regarding ergonomics, Acer didn’t cheap out, offering -5° to 15° tilt, -360° to 360° swivel, and 130mm height adjustments. There is even a 75mm x 75mm VESA mount if needed. Moreover, as it weighs only 13.82lb (6.27kg), most wall mounts will have no problem.
For I/O, we get two HDMI 2.0 and two DisplayPort 1.4 inputs, plus a headphone jack. Two 2W speakers are also present for those who care. Acer announces 38W operating power consumption which is acceptable. One HDMI plus one DisplayPort cable is included with the monitor.
The XZ342CU S3 ultrawide monitor should be available at $330, representing an excellent price for these specs.
