Acer lets slip when Intel Core Ultra 200V laptops will arrive

Launched today, available tomorrow.

Intel CPU opening a door.

Intel plans to launch Core Ultra 200V processors soon, but hasn’t confirmed when devices will be available. It stands to reason that Lunar Lake laptops and other systems will follow shortly after Team Blue’s event. Sure enough, Acer has seemingly confirmed this is the case.

Core Ultra 200V chips will be the best CPUs Intel has to offer low-powered laptops. For systems with more demanding requirements, the company will ship Core Ultra 200 series processors soon after. The former series is design with the Lunar Lake core architecture, while the latter uses Arrow Lake instead. Though the two are similar, only Arrow Lake will see a desktop release too.

Intel will launch Core Ultra 200V on September 3. Thanks to Acer (via Hot Hardware), we now have a potential release date for the laptops using these processors, too. If the company’s word is anything to go by, these next-gen machines will be available the day after.

While the manufacturer doesn’t make specific reference to Core Ultra 200V on its Human Intelligence event page, the timing of September 4 makes it difficult to think they’re unrelated. Furthermore, Acer is also one of the demo machine providers for Intel’s show. If we’re reading the tea leaves right, this will be great news for those holding out for Lunar Lake processors.

While Intel will have multiple manufacturers including Acer backing its Core Ultra 200V processors, the company faces a laptop market with more players than ever. AMD recently launched its Ryzen AI 300 series, while Qualcomm debuted its new Snapdragon X lineup. Everyone’s after a piece of the Copilot+ PC pie, and it’ll take something special to put Team Blue on top.

Early indications seem to suggest Lunar Lake could be a welcome shift for Intel. Recent benchmarks place it 20% ahead of Meteor Lake, with its Skymont Efficient-cores enjoying gains of up to 68% in IPC. That’s not forgetting the improvements its Xe2 integrated graphics will offer.
