Agon by AOC Q27G2S/EU IPS gaming monitor launched at £279

This is a 27in QHD monitor built around a 10-bit IPS panel with 1ms MPRT, 165Hz refresh.

Agon by AOC has added another gaming monitor to its bulging roster. The promise is of high-speed, high-res gaming, in a product which ticks lots of desirable spec boxes, at a reasonable price, available from this month.

The AOC Gaming Q27G2S/EU is, as the codename indicates, based around a 27in panel with QHD resolution. More precisely, it is a three-sided frameless design which employs a 10-bit IPS flat screen panel boasting 2560×1440 pixels and wide viewing angles. Other key specs that will be of importance to the target market of gamers are the 165Hz max refresh rate (using the DP port) with Adaptive Sync support (Nvidia G-Sync Compatible), and a 1ms MPRT response time.

Supporting gaming features are plentiful too. AOC says that this new monitor supports Low Input Lag mode, AOC Game Colour and Shadow Control adjustments, multiple firmware crosshair and frame-counter overlays, and six game mode presets (two user configurable).

Decent specs

Even if you spend 90 per cent of your PC time gaming, there will be some other monitor specs you will be interested in, like its colour metrics, ergonomics, and so on. The most important non-gaming centric specs you should be aware of are this monitor’s 131 per cent sRGB coverage, 104 per cent DCI-P3 coverage, the max brightness level of 350nits, a 1000:1 static contrast ratio. It features both flicker-free and low blue light modes, offers 2x HDMI 2.0 ports and 1x DP 1.4 port as well as a headphone jack.

You can use your own 100×100 VESA mount with the Agon by AOC Q27G2S/EU, but it comes with a pleasingly adjustable one, offering tilt, swivel and pivot as well as 130mm height adjustment. AOC gets some stars for convenience too, with the AOC G-Menu software allowing for quick adjustments without twiddling the OSD joystick, and it has included both HDMI and DP cables in the box.

Per the headline, the Agon by AOC Q27G2S/EU IPS gaming monitor will be available at £279.99, starting this month.
