AMD CEO Dr Lisa Su has confirmed the nearby launch of mainstream Radeon 7000 GPUs during a financial results call.
We are finally getting some official hints at mid- and low-range cards boasting latest AMD graphics technology. While not a scoop since everyone suspected lower-tier cards were to come sooner or later – with AMD’s reluctance on announcing new RDNA 3 products even after nearly five months – some started to question whether there is a point in waiting anymore.
AMD probably took this long before releasing lower-tier cards due to the high availability of older 6000 Series GPUs which offer good bang for the buck for anyone not requiring leading performance or the latest graphical features. And with the recent graphics cards price drops, we can’t wait to see how Team Red positions upcoming offerings.
“In gaming graphics, channel sell-through of our Radeon 6000 and Radeon 7000 Series GPUs increased sequentially. We saw strong sales of our high-end Radeon 7900 XTX GPUs in the first quarter, and we’re on track to expand our RDNA 3 GPU portfolio with the launch of new mainstream Radeon 7000 Series GPUs this quarter,” said Dr Lisa Su.
This indicates that the company feels the time has come for affordable options such as the RX 7600 XT, presumably powered by Navi 33 GPU, to see the light of day.
Additionally, a pull request for the ROCm software stack recently mentioned the following models:
- AMD Radeon RX 7950 XTX | RDNA3 | gfx1100 | Full | ✅
- AMD Radeon RX 7950 XT | RDNA3 | gfx1100 | Full | ✅
- AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX | RDNA3 | gfx1100 | Full | ✅
- AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT | RDNA3 | gfx1100 | Full | ✅
- AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT | RDNA3 | gfx1101 | Runtime | ✅
- AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT | RDNA3 | gfx1102 | Runtime | ✅
- AMD Radeon RX 7600 XT | RDNA3 | gfx1102 | Runtime | ✅
- AMD Radeon RX 7500 XT | RDNA3 | gfx1102 | Runtime | ✅
- AMD Radeon RX 7600M XT | RDNA3 | gfx1102 | Runtime | ✅
- AMD Radeon RX 7600M | RDNA3 | gfx1102 | Runtime | ✅
- AMD Radeon RX 7700S | RDNA3 | gfx1102 | Runtime | ✅
- AMD Radeon RX 7600S | RDNA3 | gfx1102 | Runtime | ✅
If correct, then models like the RX 7500 XT and RX 7950 XTX are also planned, though the latter probably only offering higher frequency compared to the RX 7900 XTX as Navi 31 GPUs are already fully utilised from a core-count perspective.
