The wait is almost over for Ryzen 9 9000X3D processors. After revealing Ryzen 9 9950X3D and 9900X3D to the world back in January, AMD has now confirmed its launch plans for the two chips including pricing.
In an X post, AMD’s Jack Huynh shared that the CPUs will hit store shelves starting March 12. In terms of cost, Ryzen 9 9950X3D will be available for $699 while 9900X3D will set you back $599. Pricing for these processors mirrors prior generation offerings, namely Ryzen 9 7950X3D and 7900X3D, the former of which has been a staple of the Club386 test benches for some time.

As a reminder, Ryzen 9 9950X3D will pack 16 Zen 5 cores and 32 threads running at a base clock of 4.3GHz, rising to a maximum boost clock of 5.7GHz. Meanwhile, Ryzen 9 9900X3D will offer 12 cores and 24 threads and trundle along at 4.4-5.5GHz.
3D V-Cache comes at a $100 premium as both chips are more expensive than their non-X3D counterparts, namely Ryzen 9 9950X ($599) and 9900X ($499). While more costly, this difference in price is smaller than the $150 gap between Ryzen 7 9800X3D ($479) and 9700X ($329).
I’m keen to see how generational differences manifest into tangible performance gains, particularly following Tarinder’s exploration into how Ryzen 7 9800X3D compares to 7800X3D. Much as I’m expecting great things out of the box, I’m also curious to see how much overclocking headroom they have.
AMD touts Ryzen 9 9950X3D as “the world’s best processor for gaming and content creation.” It’ll have to overcome Ryzen 7 9800X3D and Core Ultra 9 285K, respectively for these titles. Thankfully, the wait to find out how these claims hold up isn’t particularly long.
You can expect a Club386 review of Ryzen 9 9950X3D in due course. For now, make sure to follow the site on Google News so you’re notified as soon as my thoughts are ready to read.
