AMD could launch Ryzen 5 7600X3D in September

Should sell like hot cakes.

AMD is seemingly planning to launch a six-core Ryzen 7000 CPU with 3D V-Cache soon. Gamers could have another go-to chip that offers great performance at a lower price.

According to @AnhPhuH, AMD could launch a Ryzen 5 7600X3D in early September. As usual with these X3D variants, the CPU should keep its core configuration with some extra 3D V-Cache slapped on top. In other words, we will get a single CCD (Core Chiplet Die) packing six Zen 4 cores alongside 96MB of cache, split between 32MB of L3 and 64MB of 3D V-Cache.

Assuming no special optimisations are applied, this chip should clock a little lower than its non-3D variant, probably around 4.9GHz boost. On the other hand, AMD could bump the TDP from 105W to 120W to give more headroom to feed the additional cache. Lastly, expect the multiplier to come factory-locked, denying any exciting overclocks.

Seeing how Zen 5 already struggles to pull its weight in gaming scenarios against Zen 4, even using expensive parts such as Ryzen 9 9900X, 7600X3D will have a field day. That said, AMD could botch the launch by asking for too much just to discount it later when everyone moves to the next hot thing. It’s a common thread this year, from Ryzen 7 5700X3D to the recent Ryzen 9 9900X price drop.

If this release date is correct, it may be put against Ryzen 9000X3D models, which would make for some nice head-to-head comparisons. That said, plans could’ve changed since we last heard. After all, the standard models were delayed by a few weeks, and these might suffer from the domino effect.

Though no pricing has been leaked yet, a nice spot would be around £230. This would slot it between the regular 7600X and the eight-core 7700X. At this price, you can bet gamers will flood to grab one. But hey, until the official launch, all of this remains speculation, so take it with a grain of salt.
