AMD fast tracks Radeon RX 9060 XT release date according to fresh leaks

AMD may be planning to bring Radeon RX 9060 XT graphics cards to market as soon as possible.

It seems that AMD may have had a change of heart regarding its launch plans for Radeon RX 9060 XT. Rather than wait to launch its mainstream graphics card come June, as previously reported, it seems the manufacturer wants to bring it to market much sooner.

X user realVictor_M highlighted recent communications on Board Channels, which claim Radeon 9060 XT will now launch May 18. This release date pertains to both 8GB and 16GB models and falls just a few days before Computex 2025.

While Sunday feels like an odd day to launch Radeon RX 9060 XT in my eyes, I won’t look a gift horse in the mouth. The sooner Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 Ti gets some proper competition the better. Here’s hoping AMD doesn’t wait long to launch RX 9060 too, as RTX 5060 will hit the market some time in May as well.

Shifting focus for a moment, this Board Channels post also mentions Radeon RX 9070 GRE. Unlike Radeon RX 9060 XT, though, it seems AMD plans to launch this card much later in the year. According to the leaker, its release date is now Q4 2025 marking a massive delay from its original May 8 release.

It’s unclear why AMD has postponed Radeon RX 9070 GRE to such an extent, but this ultimately could only be a concern for Chinese consumers. For the moment, there’s still no word on whether the card will break free from its alleged regional exclusivity.

I’ll be at Computex later this year, so I’ll do my very best to sniff out any Radeon RX 9060 XT models on the showfloor. In the meantime, though, make sure to treat all the above with due scepticism until AMD gives an official word.
