AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT (XFX Speedster)

I know what you’re thinking: why upgrade when there are a few new graphics cards on the horizon? It all comes down to value for money in the specs XFX Speedster MERC 310 packs. AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT contains 20GB of VRAM, overtaking even Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 5080 on count alone. Sure, it sticks with GDDR6 across a 320-bit bus but as we’ve shouted about several times last year, memory capacity is an increasing concern and 7900 XT is mindful of all those HD texture packs you can download.
In its connectivity array, it squeezes two DisplayPort 2.1 inputs to make use of the latest monitors and cables. Of course, there’s always a trusty HDMI 2.1a to fall back on given the prevelance of the port and even a USB-C, each pumping out plenty of bandwidth for high refresh rate 4K resolutions.
Performance-wise, you can expect it to nip at RTX 4080’s heels in some games, but your mileage will vary. The gap closes even further when introducing AMD FSR (FidelityFX Super Resolution) into the fold, as the upscaler continues to improve significantly year on year.
Our AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX review gave the GPU 4/5, as we praised the smart use of its RDNA 3 chiplet design and value for money. Further price cuts keep up with the shifting tides, making it well worth considering as we kick off 2025.
Rather than holding out for whatever’s yet to come, you can grab a Radeon RX 7900 XT now and simply return it within 30 days of receipt if you’re not happy. It beats playing the waiting game and praying next-gen prices will play nicely.
