AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT may launch in April with performance slightly below RTX 4070

Radeon RX 9060 XT could hit the scene soon with GeForce RTX 4070-like performance but price will ultimately determine its value.

Radeon RX 9070 Series graphics cards will hit the market this week, with AMD quietly preparing RX 9060 Series models behind the scenes. The company has said that it plans to launch the latter family “next quarter”, sometime between April and June. However, rumours suggest the launch could come sooner rather than later and some claim to have performance estimates for the pixel pushers.

According to YouTuber Moore’s Law Is Dead’s (MLID) sources, AMD will launch Radeon RX 9060 XT as early as April. This would give the likes of Radeon RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 a month in the spotlight before their more affordable siblings arrive. If whispers surrounding GeForce RTX 5060 Series cards hold true, a showdown for the budget market could take place.

MLID also estimates that Radeon RX 9060 XT will realistically perform somewhere in the region of RX 7700 XT and GeForce RTX 4060 Ti. The YouTuber goes on to say that if AMD is able to push clock speeds high enough then the graphics card could offer performance closer to RTX 4070 instead.

However, MLID does heavily caveat these claims as their information stems from a single source. Regardless of the leaker’s confidence, take all the information above with a pinch of salt. AMD should reveal its release plans soon and the card’s true performance won’t come to light until third-party reviews are available to read.

Based on Radeon RX 9070 Series pricing, it’s safe to conclude that RX 9060 XT and RX 9060 will cost south of $549. If parallels with RX 7700 XT are accurate then AMD could target the same $449 price point, creating a $100 gap between its 60 and 70 class offerings. Personally, I hope it’s closer to $349-399 but final pricing won’t come to light until a reveal event at the earliest.
