AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT specs leak shows 3.1GHz frequencies

AMD could have a winner on its hands.

AMD’s upcoming flagship graphics card has unveiled some of its secrets through a leaked GPU-Z screenshot. The top Radeon 9000 series chip seems to feature PCIe Gen 5 connectivity and higher clocks than initially rumoured.

According to a GPU-Z screenshot shared by HKEPC on X, a Radeon card believed to be RX 9070 XT will be powered by a Navi 48 GPU coupled with 16GB of memory. Listed as revision C0, this chip packs 4,096 cores/shaders, 64 ROPs (raster operations pipelines), and 256 TMUs (texture mapping units).

The GPU runs at 2,570MHz base and 3,100MHz boost, with memory operating at 2,518MHz. The latter uses 16GB of 20Gb/s GDDR6 chips linked via a 256-bit bus as indicated by the 644.6GB/s bandwidth (20Gb/s x 256bit bus / 8 = 640GB/s). The slightly higher bandwidth is likely due to factory memory overclocking.

While some of these simply confirm previous rumours, RX 9070 XT was expected to boost up to 2,970MHz. This means that the card detected by GPU-Z could be an overclocked partner model. But most notably, the card is identified as running on a PCIe 5.0 which is different from what early retailer leaks showed. That said, the extra PCIe bandwidth will probably not really come into play on a mid-range card like this.

The leaker also shared a Monster Hunter Wild benchmark showing the card pushing 211.71fps at 1080p resolution when paired with an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K CPU. Based on its 36,102 score, this RDNA 4 GPU sits slightly below the RX 7900 XTX, according to Monster Hunter Wilds’ community database. This matches AMD’s expectations, as shown by this official slide.

AMD is also planning to release a slower RX 9070 non-XT model featuring a cut-down GPU packing 3,584 cores clocked up to 2,520MHz. Memory capacity, speed, and total bandwidth remain unchained between these models.

AMD is set to officially announce Radeon RX 9070 XT sometime this month, with a launch slated for March. Rumours talk about March 23, but plans may change if Nvidia’s RTX 5070 delay is true.
