Fresh out of CES, AMD’s Ryzen 7 8700G is one of the best CPUs with integrated graphics in 2024. It offers a substantial improvement over its predecessor, 5700G, and respects your electric bill with such a low power draw. Speaking of saving money, thanks to a phenomenal deal, you can currently get the chip at its lowest price ever.

Over on Amazon, a 9% discount slims Ryzen 7 8700G’s price down to just £279.98 in the UK and $299 in the US. This hovers just above the cheapest we’ve seen in the UK, and it’s unbeaten in the US. As usual, European residents must check their local storefronts, as costs vary across the board. The same processor is full price in France, but Germany gives you 10% off at €313.67 and Italy gets 13% off at €309.04.

8700G has a lot in common with 5700G, with the same tiny 65W power draw and an identical eight-core, 16-thread layout. The devil is in the details, though, moving to Zen 4 architecture, amping up clock speeds to 5.1GHz boost, and improving the total cache to 24MB. Granted, the dinky 4nm node leaves less room for PCIe lanes, shrinking down to eight for the GPU, but that shouldn’t matter if you’re sticking with the integrated graphics.

Most of 8700G’s prowess comes from its integrated Radeon 780M. It’s able to play virtually any game at 1080p with a decent 60fps+ using FSR (FidelityFX Super Resolution) while keeping a cool head, making it an absolute powerhouse. You probably won’t get as much out of it if you also run the best graphics card in your system, but this is undoubtedly the leading all-in-one solution.

Unlike other APUs (accelerated processing units), the final feather in this chip’s cap is the XDNA AI engine, primed for all things artificial intelligence. With 16 TOPS, it doesn’t quite hold a candle to the newly announced Ryzen AI 300 series for laptops, but it can offload large language model tasks to the NPU (neural processing unit), making it incredibly well-rounded.

One of the better aspects of this being an Amazon deal is that the retailer’s return policy gives you a cushion. You can try out the processor for yourself and send it back within 30 days if you’re not happy.

If you’re not sold on Ryzen 7 8700G, then perhaps wait a little longer for Ryzen 9000 or Ryzen 9000X3D. At the very least, the arrival of the new line-up should herald price drops for all current generations.
