AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX3D pre-orders begin suggesting imminent arrival

Extra cache doesn't cost a large amount of extra cash it seems, as Ryzen 9 9955HX3D laptops aren't massively more expensive than non-X3D equivalents.

AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX3D-powered laptops should launch in a couple of months featuring the brand’s 3D V-Cache technology. Set to become the go-to gaming laptops, their price won’t be cheap.

Dream Machines, a brand that customises ODM (original design manufacturer) systems to its needs, has unveiled its roster for AMD’s upcoming mobile powerhouse. Each CPU packs 16 Zen 5 cores and 32 threads spread between two CCDs (core complex dies), with one CCD featuring 64MB of second-gen 3D V-Cache for a total of 128MB of L3 and 16MB of L2. This should give these machines an advantage in cache-sensitive applications like games. According to AMD, 9955HX3D can reach up to 5.4GHz at a TDP between 55W and 75W.

9955HX3D does feature a built-in Radeon 610M iGPU but these laptops naturally have more-powerful dedicated graphics to fall back on, namely GeForce RTX 5090. Dream Machines rates these for up to 175W TGP (Total Graphics Power) at the high-end, which will require proper cooling and battery capacity.

Dream Machines is expecting its first Fire Range laptops to hit shelves by the end of March or early April. The brand has planned at least nine models, all powered by the Ryzen 9 9955HX3D CPU and Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs. These go from €2529.99 for those who want a taste of mobile 3D V-Cache, up to €3999.99 for those who need the ultimate mobile machine rocking a 24GB RTX 5090. Compared to their non-X3D equivalents, these laptops demand €180 to €210 extra.

Note that while Dream Machines specs list DDR5-4800 SODIMM memory, the brand has indicated to Videocardz that it will update all models with DDR5-5200 and DDR5-6500 RAM. A welcome boost to help the CPU unlock its potential. Likewise, the higher models will carry larger SSDs, with 2TB as an option.
