You can read AMD Ryzen 9000 reviews a day before launch

24 hours to digest Zen 5's critical reception.

Prior to their recent delay, we expected to welcome Ryzen 9000 CPUs and publish coverage around July 31. Now, AMD will stagger the launch and reviews of these new chips across August. Thankfully, analysis from Club386 and other outlets will still be available ahead of release.

While all signs point to Ryzen 9000 chips being among the best CPUs on the market, their performance and value are by no means certain. Even with a flurry of promising leaks backing up the official word from AMD, it’s impossible to make an objective assessment until reviews drop.

Ryzen 9000 review embargoes will lift 24 hours before launch. So, with the new release dates in mind, the first coverage for Ryzen 5 9600X and 7 9700X should land on August 7. Shortly afterwards, Ryzen 9 9900X and 9950X reviews will arrive on August 14.

Thankfully, this delay gives us all the more time to capture fresh data for comparisons. So, expect new performance benchmarks from top AMD processors like Ryzen 9 7950X and their competitors, Core i9-14900K.

Of course, we’ll also put more affordable chips like Ryzen 5 7600X through their paces alongside the reigning gaming champion Ryzen 7 7800X3D. Suffice it to say that we’ve been hard at work, and we look forward to sharing the fruits of our labour in due course.

As a reminder, we’ll be using a 600 series motherboard to test Zen 5 CPUs as AMD, as there are currently no available boards sporting an 800 series chipset. X870E motherboards are reportedly arriving in September, alongside 9000X3D SKUs. That is, of course, unless this recent delay sees AMD push those chips back.

Briefly, it’s worth nothing that Ryzen AI 300 series processors aren’t affected by this delay. Zen 5 laptops should still hit store shelves before the end of July.

We’ll continue to report on Ryzen 9000 leaks and rumours in the run-up to launch. Be sure to check back to Club386 in the meantime and, of course, when review embargoes expire.
