At a recent press event, AOC and Philips revealed their plans to conquer the monitor space for the coming year. Whether you’re after stunning OLEDs, blazing-fast TN panels, or a dual-mode display, the companies seemingly have something for every corner of the market.
I’m focussing on AOC and Philips’ dual-mode offerings here, but I recommend giving Parm’s coverage on their upcoming monitors too for a full picture of what’s to come.
The Panel
AOC and Philips have announced three dual-mode monitors they plan to release later this year, namely Evnia 27M2N5901A, AOC U27G4R, and Evnia 27M2N3800A.
All three of these models each use the same dual-mode display. So, for the sake of brevity, let’s talk screen before models. At the click of a button, this 27in Fast IPS panel can toggle between a UHD/160Hz refresh rate and resolution combo to a zippier albeit softer FHD/320Hz configuration.
In practice, these three proverbial musketeers provide a high-quality single player and competitive multiplayer experience in a single package. Boasting 95% DCI-P3 gamut coverage and a 1ms GtG response time, your favourite games will look and feel great in either mode.
Evnia 27M2N5901A

At the top of the stack but also latest to arrive is Philips Evnia 272M2N5901A. It separates itself from its siblings through its connectivity, namely offering a 20Gb/s USB Type-C with 65W power delivery in addition to several 5Gb/s Type-A ports. Naturally, it sports a KVM switch too.

AOC U27G4R

Sandwiched between its Philips Evnia relatives in terms of cost, AOC U27G4R retains the same dual-mode IPS panel but cuts back on fancier features in service of a lower price point. Nonetheless, it doesn’t forgo connectivity entirely with four 5Gb/s Type-A ports forming its USB hub.

I expect at least one of these monitors will cross the Club386 review desk. In preparation for when they do, make sure to follow the site on Google News so you’ll know as soon as coverage lands. Based on Damien’s experience with Philips Evnia 27M2N8500, I’m optimistic these models will prove similarly great.
