AOC turns the dial to 600Hz with Agon Pro AG246FK6 gaming monitor

540Hz is yesterday's news, don't you know.

AOC’s determination to dominate the gaming monitor landscape is showing no signs of abating. The brand has a slew of aggressive additions coming to market in 2025, including a range-topper in the speed stakes dubbed Agon Pro AG246FK6.

Arriving in stores this July, the newcomer touts a TN panel running at an outrageous 600Hz. I can hear the collective sigh of casual gamers who don’t see the point, but on the pro scene there’s always demand for more, and AG246FK6 is an upgrade on last year’s 540Hz model in more ways than one.

Sticking to a tried-and-trusted 24.1in format, the FHD 1920×1080 display now incorporates MBR+ dual-backlight technology to help minimise ghosting and deliver the best motion experience achievable on a TN panel operating at such lofty frequencies.

As you’d expect for a monitor aimed at die-hard gamers, the rest of the specification sheet lacks superfluous bells and whistles. There’s basic HDR400 certification, a customary 0.5ms GtG response time, and adaptive sync included as standard.

AOC’s supplied stand also helpfully includes height, swivel and tilt adjustment, and in addition to a dual-port USB hub, there’s HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4 connectivity to ensure native 600Hz compatibility without any fuss.

The real kicker, however, is that pricing stays the same as last year’s model, at €699. Given that 600Hz TN competitors currently retail for over a thousand quid, it’s handy to know that AOC is bringing ultra-high-speed appeal to a broader range of customers with a much more affordable RRP.

Whether or not that’s enough to tempt gamers away from increasingly popular OLEDs remains to be seen, but there’s no one size fits all when it comes to PC screens. Plenty of TN enthusiasts remain, and if that’s your particular brand of gaming, keep an eye out for the Agon Pro AG246FK6 when it arrives in just a couple of months’ time.
