It’s no secret that Apple products typically cost a pretty penny, including the company’s coveted high-end headphones, AirPods Max. However, these cans can now be yours for decidedly less than their launch price of $549. If you fancy your pick of the fruit, though, be sure to act fast before this deal spoils.
Over on Amazon, every shade of AirPods Max is 28% off, bringing their cost down to just $394.99. That’s a whopping saving of $154, freeing up some cash for an Apple Music subscription or something altogether outside of Tim Cook’s walled garden. While there’s no avoiding that these cans still command a premium price, this is the cheapest we’ve ever seen them go for.

AirPods Max specs
As is typical of Apple, it annoyingly hides some of the finer details of AirPods Max such as its frequency response. However, the company does at least share other metrics, including connectivity, estimated battery life, features, and weight.

AirPods Max can be used with a wired connection, but you’ll need a Lightning to 3.5mm adapter which isn’t included in the box. However, these are headphones designed to be used wirelessly, with support for the AAC codec. With up to 20 hours of playback, and five minutes of charge providing up to 1.5 hours of listening time, keeping these cans juiced shouldn’t prove troublesome.
AirPods Max performance
If you’re immersed in the Apple ecosystem, with an iPhone, Mac, and other devices, then AirPods Max will fit seamlessly into your setup. Switching between devices is a breeze, with no faff in Bluetooth menus required to swap sources.
Naturally, and most importantly, they sound fantastic too. These aren’t by any means neutral headphones, with AirPods Max delivering slightly emphasised low-end for a fun bassy time that doesn’t get in the way of mids and highs.
AirPods Max supports active noise cancelling, whose quality rivals competing options from Sony and Bose. The same microphone array, however, is also used to power Transparency Mode. With the click of a button, you’ll be able to switch between tuning the outside world in and out.
