Arctic has launched a new offset contact frame for Intel processors, focussing on Core Ultra 200 chips. Built with Arrow Lake’s shifted hotspot in mind, this improved frame should reduce your CPU temperature with little effort.
The offset contact frame replaces the motherboard’s original ILM (Integrated Lever Mechanism), which secures the CPU to the socket. Instead of only holding it from the centre, the contact frame restrains it from all sides, resulting in a myriad of improvements.
First, it spreads the load across the entire contact plate, resulting in a more even dissipation. It also helps to avoid excessive pressure on one side, which bends the CPU IHS (Integrated Heat Spreader) and causes mechanical stress on the mainboard, causing poor contact with coolers.
The offset contact frame is compatible with the LGA1700 and LGA1851 sockets, pairing nicely with the brand’s Liquid Freezer III liquid cooler series. This makes it perfect for 12, 13, and 14-Gen Intel Core processors, and most importantly the Core Ultra 200 series. It’s an inspired decision given Intel Core Ultra 200 processors feature a hotspot that’s a bit further north than normal.

The new mounting set shows its strength particularly on high-end hot-running chips, such as the Core Ultra 9 285K. Arctic claims its offset contact frame can reduce temperatures of this CPU by 4°C (from 89°C to 85°C) using a Liquid Freezer III 360mm AIO liquid cooler at maximum fan speed.
Installation is particularly simple. You just need to remove the original ILM by unfastening the four screws holding it before placing the new frame aligned with the triangle indicator. Keep the CPU in place so you don’t damage any pins, as you’ll plonk Arctic’s solution right on top afterwards. Once in place, you just need to fasten back the screws included with it using a Phillips-head screwdriver or the included key. Arctic has a video guide showcasing these steps.
The Arctic offset contact frame is priced at €4.99 (including worldwide shipping), making it a great addition to your Liquid Freezer. It’s like repasting your CPU but with the added cooling benefit.
