While we’re still quite far away from a smart home utopia, I can’t remember life before my Arlo Video Doorbell. Alongside prompt notifications that let me speak to the delivery drivers I’ve practically befriended over the years, its motion detectors provide a peace of mind like no other, deterring unwanted intruders. There’s also never been a better time to buy one, as the security device has fallen to its lowest price ever.

Slashing a whopping 54% off, you can currently get the doorbell for just $60 on Amazon US. The same model is down to €130 in parts of Europe, marking the cheapest it’s ever been in both regions. You can check out your local deals by clicking the button below.

Arlo Video Doorbell 2K

Battery-powered and easy to install, Arlo Video Doorbell 2K offers subscribers the ability to see and chat to visitors before answering the door.

The first thing that attracted me to Arlo Video Doorbell is the wireless setup. Simply screw the bracket into your door, plug the battery in, and slot the device into its new home. Whereas you can only charge many Amazon Ring alternatives by taking the camera down again, Arlo features a hot-swappable battery. This lets you purchase a second standalone battery so one’s always on charge and your doorbell is never out of action.

Once you’ve hooked it up to your phone, you’ll get push notifications whenever the motion sensor detects movement or someone presses the doorbell. You can buy separate chimes to complement your setup and place them anywhere in the house, but phone connectivity specificially has saved me from missing deliveries time and time again, whether I’ve got headphones on or have simply popped out for a bit.

Person and package detection is only available to Arlo Secure subscribers, but it’s well worth the monthly fee. Alongside your push notifications telling you exactly what’s going on before you click them, you’ll also get cloud storage for your 2K HDR recordings. The square 180° footage captures subjects from head to toe, ensuring exactly who and what is at your door.

I originally got a bit sick of the sheer amount of notifications I received from pedestrians passing by, but Arlo lets you adjust the detection zones to better suit your needs. It also offers privacy zones to block out sensitive areas of yours or your neighbours’ properties to avoid any conflict.

Finally, although I’ve thankfully not yet had to use it, the camera itself packs a built-in siren that rings up to 80dB. You can set it off at the touch of a button or have it automatically go off if motion is detected – just make sure you use such power responsibly.

Thanks to the Arlo Secure trial, you should be able to make your mind up whether or not this device is for you before Amazon’s 30-day refund/replacement guarantee ends. If you’re not satisfied, simply send it back. However, I for one can’t live without it.

As always, I recommend following Club386 on Google News to keep up to date with all the latest deals we find.
