Bling alert – Galax launches HOF OC LAB Phantom S DDR5-8000 CL38 memory

This is how RGB RAM should be done.

Galax has announced HOF OC LAB Phantom S DDR5 memory reaching speeds up to 8,000MT/s with 32GB kits.

Spotted by folks at ITHome, this new series is apparently dubbed Phantom S, offering 2x16GB kits clocked at 7,200MT/s, 7,600MT/s, and 8,000MT/s with CL34, CL36, and CL38 timings, respectively. Operating voltages are unsurprisingly set to 1.4V, 1.5V, and 1.5V for each kit, too. Each module features eight independently-controlled RGB light-emitting areas.

As is usual with the brand’s HOF (Hall Of Fame) series, there is a white aluminium heatsink with silver accents and a HOF logo. A long light diffusion bar takes up all the top section, also popping a bit from the front and back of each module to shine some RGB bling. Looking at the available images, the light diffusion seems perfect, as we can’t distinguish any individual LEDs. Though, unfortunately, the PCB isn’t white, unlike other HOF RAM series.

We should expect good-quality ICs on these modules as this is Galax’s flagship product family, meaning potentially we could get some nice overclocking out of them. But as the saying goes, don’t count your chickens before they’re hatched.

Since we already have HOF graphics cards, SSDs, and even PSUs, all that remains is to release a HOF motherboard and the set would be completed for a full HOF desktop computer.

While pricing is still unknown, we expect it to be high as these are not your regular DDR5 kits. That said, the recent cost drop in memory-type chips may help them reach acceptable levels.
