Finding an SSD bargain isn’t as straightforward as it was in 2023. Costs will continue rising in the coming months, so if you’re in the market, it pays to keep your finger on the trigger when we bring you the best deals.

Today’s pick is the venerable Samsung 990 Pro, specifically the 2TB model, which is available for £148.40 at Amazon UK. That’s easily the best price we’ve seen this year, and the discount is available as a limited-time deal while stocks last. 14% have been claimed at the time of writing.

Pricing isn’t quite as compelling across the pond, where the drive currently retails for $189.99. It’s around €180 on the European continent, too, highlighting just how competitive the UK promotion is.

A Club386 award winner, our Samsung 990 Pro review shows it’s as good as it gets for PCIe 4.0. It boasts PC and PS5 compatibility, providing an excellent upgrade path. The firm did belatedly add a 4TB model, but the value proposition is murky at £335, particularly in the face of today’s 2TB deal. Besides, this beast hits a whopping 7,421MB/s sequential read speeds, and 6,825MB/s write speeds.

Folk who missed out on 2023 SSD bargains may lament that this very drive was once available for under £120 after cashback. Hindsight’s a wonderful thing like that. We don’t envisage last year’s incredible prices coming back anytime soon, if at all. So, if there’s an offer on a drive you had in mind, prepare to jump in while you can.
