I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve seen someone cobble together a new system spec only to forget to budget for a screen. It’s an easy mistake, but just because it’s part of the peripheral line-up doesn’t mean it’s something you can skimp on. Fortunately, gaming monitors aren’t as expensive as they used to be, particularly if you know what to look for.

Generally, Asus TUF VG34VQL1B is already among the best gaming monitors out there when it comes to value, particularly at 165Hz refresh rate across 3440×1440 resolution. Stick a limited-time deal on it, and then it’s in a category all of its own. While stocks last, you can save up to 38% off its original price on Amazon.

Folks in the US get the best shake, as its newfound low of $269 is the best price it’s ever been. Hop over to Europe, and the same model sits just above its lowest at €386.10. It’s not quite so cheap in the UK, but lower the specs to 100Hz for Asus TUF VG34VQEL1A, and you’re once again back in the cheapest ever territory at £248.99.

Built for immersion, the 16:10 aspect ratio wraps around you with a gentle 1,500R curve, drawing you into the screen. Adding a bend isn’t just for show, though, as it comes with a health benefit or two. Conforming to the shape of your eye reduces fatigue in your peripheral vision, allowing you to stay in the game for longer.

When you are playing, you benefit from 1ms response times and Asus’ Extreme Low Motion Blur to combat ghosting and muddiness from movement. There’s also no tearing, thanks to adaptive sync, which works with Nvidia GeForce, AMD Radeon, and Intel Arc graphics.

Although this works best with its full WQHD resolution at 165Hz, you can drop this down to 1080/120Hz. This keeps it in line with the latest consoles, including PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

DisplayHDR 400 certification with HDR 10 support rounds off a robust feature set, complete with fantastic calibration. Asus aims for 125% sRGB colour gamut on this particular model.

As I mentioned earlier, this is a limited-time deal, so don’t hang around too long trying to decide whether it’s right for you. If you’re not happy with your purchase, simply send it back within the first 30 days of purchase, and Amazon will grant you a full refund.
