Savvy shoppers know better than to focus all their attention on Black Friday as many of the best deals have arrived after the event.

Just yesterday, actually, AMD slashed the cost of Ryzen 7 5700X, and now Intel is firing back with a discount on Core i5-13600KF. A mainstay in our list of best CPUs, the mid-range Core i5 has dropped to £259.99 in the UK and an astonishing $249.99 US. That’s nearly a 20% reduction and the lowest prices we’ve ever seen.

Hitting a blistering top speed of 5.1GHz, Core i5-13600KF marries six performance cores with eight efficient, creating a 14-core, 20-thread setup that delivers a hefty performance punch at an agreeable price point. Do be mindful that this ‘KF’ model doesn’t include onboard graphics, though we imagine most builds of this ilk would factor in some level of discrete graphics. This CPU allied to, say, a GeForce RTX 4070 or Radeon RX 7800 XT would make for a potent pairing.

Those wanting to deep dive into the underlying 13th Gen Raptor Lake architecture can revisit our Core i5-13600K review. It’s an excellent chip on multiple fronts, and compatible motherboards are now readily available for under £200.

Both AMD and Intel appear to be engaging in another price war on processors from recent generations. That’s great news for consumers, and whichever side you choose, there’s now a good deal available. Exactly what the doctor ordered for a fun winter 2023 PC build.
