We’re at that point in the year again when we’re so late in the smartphone cycle that the price of Apple’s flagship handset comes crashing down. For the first time ever, the brand’s iPhone 15 Pro Max has slipped below £1,000.

Over on Amazon UK, you can only get 18% off the 256GB Natural Titanium iPhone 15 Pro Max, bringing it down to £989.10 – its cheapest yet. There are a handful of discounts across other models, such as 8% off Black Titanium for £1,099, but none reach as low as this.

Europeans are also fortunate enough to see record-breaking deals. 14% off White Titanium 256GB puts the smartphone at €1,269 in France. Both the blue and black models are just €1,239 in Germany. And all four colours currently sit at €1,199 in Italy.

Only Google’s Pixel 8 Pro rivals iPhone 15 Pro Max’s camera quality, as Apple’s device is lauded for its 48MP system. The camera array is densely packed, featuring ultra-wide, main, and telephoto lenses, letting you capture everything in exceptional clarity. 0.5x, 1x, 2x, and 5x zoom keep you close to the action no matter how far you stand. The 12MP front-facing camera does the trick for selfies and Face ID biometrics, but you probably won’t want to switch from the rear-facing one often.

Apple’s A17 Pro chip makes every task feel smooth, leveraging the 6.7in 2796×1290 pixel Super Retina XDR display. It’s bright, colourful, and doesn’t come at the expense of battery life. Overall, you can expect around 29 hours of video playback before you need to juice it up. Through general use, you might even get away with a single night where you don’t recharge it.

Jumping ship from Android has never been easier, as iPhone 15 Pro Max uses a USB 3 charging cable. As part of its efforts to go green, you’ll have to source your own charger as Apple doesn’t include one in the box, but it’ll work with Type-C cables you have around the house.

The new port doesn’t come at the expense of durability, either, as it’s splash, water, and dust resistant. I wouldn’t recommend dunking it, but a verified IP68 rating means you can submerge it in up to 6m of water for up to 30 minutes without damage. I’m not a scuba diver or anything, but this is reassuring, given my country’s known for rain.

Such a hefty discount puts the top model in the same price bracket as iPhone 15 Plus, which incidentally has its own deals. The 128GB black model is currently 20% cheaper at £719.10, which is its lowest price yet. You’ll pay slightly more for the same storage in other colours, as each sports 11% off at £799, but I’d argue if black is good enough for Batman, then it’s certainly good enough for me. Meanwhile, the 256GB versions go for £899, and 512GB for £1,099.

If you’re interested in upgrading your smartphone, don’t hang around. It’s not clear whether these are a permanent price cuts or temporary ones, but stock is dwindling. If you’re not completely happy with your new device, you can send it back using Amazon’s 30-day return policy for a full refund (this is 14 days in some European countries). This lets you try it out with no strings attached.
