Gearing up for Starfield? Who can blame you; the year’s most anticipated title is now just around the corner and we can’t wait to get started.

If you’ll be playing on a joypad, here’s a deal that may tickle your fancy. Microsoft’s Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 – Core (yes, it’s a mouthful) has dropped below £100 at Amazon UK for the first time. £93.74, to be precise, or $116 over in the US.

The best-ever price is applicable specifically to the Blue model here on UK shores, and seeing as the same controller retailed for £125 just a month ago, represents a healthy reduction of 25 per cent.

Do note that Core Editions are streamlined variants of the Elite Series 2 wireless controller. That means you get the same underlying joypad, with adjustable-tension thumbsticks, hair-trigger locks and wrap-around rubberised grip, but certain extras are excluded to bring down the price. These include additional thumbsticks, a spare d-pad and a carrying case.

Core Edition is the better bet for most gamers, especially at today’s sale price, and it comes with the regular USB-C cable and rechargeable battery touting 40 hours of game time. A choice of wireless, Bluetooth or USB-C connectivity makes it the ideal companion for Xbox, Windows or mobile.
