Finding a good SSD deal is like looking for a needle in a haystack in the current climate. Fortunately, we have pretty sharp eyes and know where to comb. Crucial’s T500 offers some hope during this dark time, as the drive fetches for a neat price right now.

Adding another 2TB to your PC just got that much more affordable on Amazon, with up to 26% off the storage solution. Over in the United States, the standard model will set you back $139.99, while a heatsink-covered version primed for PS5 costs just £152.99. Blighty locals can get the same devices for £151.98 and £150.98, respectively. As usual, costs will vary across Europe depending on which version of the store you visit. At €175.28, it’s a touch above its best-price ever in Italy, while France gets the same one for €176.99.

Crucial T500 2TB

“Make more room for your favourite games without compromising performance using Crucial’s high-speed Gen 4 SSD that eclipses SATA alternatives.”

Crucial T500 2TB is rated at the top of PCIe Gen 4’s capabilities, clocking in sequential read speeds of 7,400MB/s and write speeds around 7,000MB/s. Translating this into real-world performance, it’s around 42% faster than Gen 3 options in apps like Adobe Creative Cloud and 16% faster than its predecessor. You should never hold the multiplayer lobby up when loading into a game again.

Unlike Gen 5 cooling woes, Gen 4 models like this one don’t need an extra fan making a ruckus or some fancy watercooling solution. With a 40% higher performance-to-power ratio, it stays chilled underneath a simple passive heatsink, whether that’s integrated into your motherboard or sold separately. You definitely want to ensure you cover it with something thermally designed, though.

As always, don’t just take our word for it, especially since this is an SSD we haven’t tested yet. Amazon gives you the opportunity to try it out for yourself by purchasing it and simply sending it back within 30 days if you’re not happy.

A final note for those of you filling out your motherboard: remember that some M.2 slots share bandwidth with the PCIe slots. Consult your manual to see which ones to keep empty or judge whether it’s a worthy trade-off.

In the meantime, we’ll keep our eyes out for more SSD deals and any other tech discounts that crop up. Follow us on Twitter or Facebook, and subscribe to our free weekly newsletter to keep up to date with everything that we find.
