Deal of the day: TP-Link’s WiFi 6 router is up to 33% cheaper

Improve your internet connection for cheap.

TP-Link AC1800 WiFi 6 router offers better speeds at lower prices, according to this poster.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m a wired man through and through. I’ll always recommend running an Ethernet cable to the far ends of the Earth just to give you the most stable connection. Of course, that’s not always possible. With so many devices sapping your home broadband, it’s important to get a good wireless signal from room to room. Fortunately, with WiFi 7 knocking around, WiFi 6 devices are falling in price.

TP-Link AX1800 has always been one of the best WiFi 6 routers under $100 / £100, but now it’s a steal. With 33% off on Amazon UK, you can grab the OneMesh solution for £59.99. Across the Atlantic, there’s a neat 25% off on Amazon US, slashing prices down to $74.99.

The router features a quad-core 1.5GHz processor under the hood alongside OFDMA technology. This stands for orthogonal frequency-division multiple access, which is a fancy way of saying it handles a lot more traffic than its predecessor, WiFi 5 – perfect for busy households.

Keeping things simple, the router features dual-band WiFi 6 across 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. They operate over 40% faster than previous standards, with up to 1.8Gbps under its belt.

Speeds are great, but coverage is what I’m most interested in. Sometimes, playing media just isn’t a great experience when the signal has to go through concrete walls. No router guarantees perfection, but TP-Link’s beamforming tech, combined with four high-gain antennas, puts it in a prime position to keep you connected.

There are a few cherries on top of this particular cake, too. A dedicated USB 2.0 port lets you share files across the whole network from your external storage device. Getting a second OneMesh device lets you synchronise the two to create a full mesh network, giving you extended coverage over a wider area. And finally, you can pop a VPN on to cover your whole house via Open VPN and PPTP. It’s the easiest way to keep every device private.
