Once upon a time, QD-OLED gaming monitors were exclusively for those with deep pockets. The same was true for Philips’ Evnia 34M2C8600 when it first launched, with a price befitting its premium qualities. Since then, though, this flagship display has grown much more affordable and is all the more so thanks to a discount courtesy of Amazon.

Bagging yourself an Evnia 34M2C8600 costs just £594.97, down from its list price of £764.92. That’s a saving just shy of £180 (22%). Better still, according to CamelCamelCamel, this is the cheapest the monitor’s ever been in its lifetime. Folks over the pond can also save $100 on this display, so there’s a discount for everyone either side of the pond.

Evnia 34M2C8600 offers a 34in ultrawide QD-OLED panel with a native resolution of 3,440×1,440 and a 175Hz refresh rate. These qualities make the monitor expansive, sharp, and smooth, perfect for first-person games or those with expansive open worlds. Its quantum dot layer also gives colours extra punch, which come to life all the more alongside the contrast afforded by the screen’s self-emissive technology. That’s not forgetting the added immersion that Ambiglow can bring.

It’s very similar in specification to Evnia 34M2C6500, a monitor we absolutely love. However, as the more premium sibling, it comes with a few extra creature comforts. On top of the delightful display packaged inside its white chassis, Philips has stuffed a KVM Switch alongside four (count ’em) USB Type-A ports. That’s not forgetting the USB Type-C 3.2 Gen 1 port too, complete with DP Alt and power delivery.

You will need to connect your graphics card to Evnia 34M2C6500 via its DisplayPort 1.4 port to make the most of its resolution and refresh rate. The monitor comes with two HDMI 2.0 ports, but those will top out at 100Hz. It’s also important to note that devices not running at 16:9 resolutions, like consoles, won’t fill out the entire screen. As this is an OLED display, though, any black bars are very easy to ignore as there’s no backlight to illuminate them.
