Gigabyte going big on Intel B860 and AMD B850 with 45 models

Choice overload.

Gigabyte has unveiled its full stack of mid-range motherboards powering Intel’s and AMD’s latest processors. The brand aims to launch at least 45 boards with different price targets to cover all needs.

Spotted in an EEC filing, Gigabyte is planning to launch at least 31 Intel motherboards powered by the mid-range B860 chipset alongside 14 AMD boards powered by the B850 chipset. Besides the confusing names courtesy of AMD copying Intel’s naming scheme, these boards should offer an excellent alternative to the expensive Z890 and X870 series.

Gigabyte has listed the following boards for Intel’s upcoming LGA 1851 ‘Arrow Lake’ platform:

  • B860 AORUS ELITE WIFI7
  • B860 AORUS ELITE WIFI7 ICE
  • B860I AORUS PRO ICE

A massive list, no doubt, especially considering that it doesn’t include high-end and entry-level chipset models. What it includes is all you need for a well-rounded set of features that will give you an excellent experience without going overboard with less important gimmicks.

Though we don’t have any pricing yet, these models should come below the €300 mark as the higher-tier X870 Aorus Elite WiFi 7 and X870E Aorus Elite WiFi 7 have been spotted at around €320.

Many models feature the latest Wi-Fi 7 connectivity which debuts the 6GHz band, making your connection faster and less prone to congestion. They should also come equipped with enough power phases to extract the maximum out of your CPU, unless you are a heavy overclocker. Lastly, some of these are likely to boast a blazing-fast USB 4 connection alongside 2.5GbE LAN. Be sure to check the specs when the time comes.

You should be OK with any of the listed Aorus models, followed by the Gaming lineup. As for the DS3, D3, etc., you better check out some reviews just to be sure the power delivery isn’t pushed too far.

While AMD is free to open the festivities for its compatible boards any time as supported Ryzen 7000 and 9000 CPUs are already out, Intel is likely to hold the launch until the release of non-K Core Ultra 200 chips. These are rumoured to be scheduled for early 2025, probably somewhere near CES.
