AMD isn’t shy about discounting its top-tier Ryzen 9 7900X3D. The latest deal, however, isn’t one you’ll want to miss. Plummeting to its lowest price yet, it won’t be long before the chip slingshots back up to MSRP, if not higher. Just look at what supply and demand are doing to SSD prices this year.
Taking 44% off is so last month. After all, it was only close to its best price ever. Now, AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3D boasts a whopping 46% off on Amazon UK, reaching new lows of £429.88. Amazon US shoppers aren’t left high and dry, either, maintaining a 23% reduction for a slim $462 price tag.
Top-level specs give a good idea of what you’re in for, with 12 cores, 24 threads, and a 5.6GHz boost clock. While this is more of an enthusiast processor, it doesn’t guzzle too much power. The 120W draw is much slimmer than the 170W of the non-3D version, keeping your electricity bill affordable.
What makes it one of the beefiest and best CPUs on the market, though, is its L3 cache. At 128MB, there are no other chips that compete. This is more important than it might seem at first because this cache is a known boon with frame rates in games. We’re talking between 15% and 40% uplifts in some cases, depending on the game. Every frame counts, but this is an obscene jump.
We haven’t tested the Ryzen 9 7900X3D first-hand, but we did get our mitts on a Ryzen 9 7950X3D. The two aren’t worlds apart in terms of performance, even if the bigger brother packs a few more cores and threads.
